Weather in Georgia

At the end of my fourth week on the road trip I have run into “weather” in Georgia.

In Atlanta today it just about freezing and raining. It is projected that the temperature will drop and the roads will freeze and the precipitation will turn into snow. Lovely. More significantly there is a winter storm advisory for most of the area north of me. As Scarlett O’Harrah famously said in Gone With The Wind : “I’ll think about that tomorrow.”

My plan is to be in Boston by Friday at the latest so that I am there for the Bat Mitzvah of my dear late friend Jonathan’s granddaughter Ava. According to my weather app it will be sunny in Atlanta tomorrow and then sunny in Baltimore on Tuesday so theoretically (if the weather follows the prediction) the roads will be ok. This is exactly what I had anticipated. I had a reservation in Boston in a hotel starting Tuesday in case I needed to drive straight through to get ahead the storm, but now that it is here I have made a new reservation for Monday night in a hotel in Greensboro North Carolina (heavy snow today but forecast for sunny on Monday). From that point the roads should be clear for the final 780 miles to Boston. I will plan/hope to arrive in Boston on Wednesday evening.

In the meanwhile, I have some work to do in my hotel room this morning and still hope to visit my cousin Benji who lives nearby and then get to see my great nephews Jesse and Bram one more time (along with their parents of course)
