These things can all be true simultaneously. In fact – I believe they are all true.
- Donald Trump’s decision to launch an attack on Iran was badly conceived and illegal under United States Law and International Law.
- The world would be better off if Iran did not achieve nuclear weapons. Israel will be safer with the degradation of Iran’s ballistic missile capacity.
- The theocratic dictators of Iran were brutal tyrants who oppressed the Iranian people and funded terrorists that threatened and destabilized the Mideast.
- International law allowed Israel to launch an attack against Iran because they had essentially been in a state of war for more than 40 years and Iran posed a real and imminent threat to attack Israel,
- Israel will be safer and the region will have a greater chance of stability with Hamas, Hezbellah and Iran weakened.
- The apparent expectation by Trump that Iran would surrender in reaction to the military might was delusional. The expectation that the Iranian dictatorship would fall from power as a result of the bombings was mistaken. The ultimate cost to the US economy of this incursion will be astronomical.
- The Iranian regime has already suffered enormous military losses.
- The ends do not justify the means.
